From reserve duty to the delivery room

Congratulations to Coral and Efraim Susonov on the birth of their second child, who waited until his father came directly from reserve duty to the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center delivery room

The Susonovs, who live in Or Akiva, waited for the birth of their second son and knew that their due date was approaching. On October 7, Efraim was called up to his unit in a battalion located in northern Israel and received special permission to leave so he could be at his son’s birth.

“The due date was Saturday, but contractions only started two days later,” said Coral Susonov, while receiving her newborn baby from Orna Greenberg, the Head Nurse in HYMC’s Maternity Department. “When I arrived at Hillel Yaffe, I told Efraim that I was in the delivery room. He received special permission to leave and left right when the midwife said that it was just about to happen.” He arrived and 90 minutes later, the baby was out.”

Everyone in the delivery room was excited to see the father who came in uniform and joked about being doubly prepared - prepared for war and prepared for their second son to come into the world.

“The delivery was incredible,” said Coral, “two midwives on two shifts were with me, Eva and Zehava Sofer. I also gave birth to my older son at Hillel Yaffe, and the staff is wonderful.”

The couple have still not decided on a name for their newborn, but both agree that at this time, they want to give him a happy name that will celebrate life and not the war.
