The Hila Program was launched at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center about two years ago with the first class - made up of seven outstanding residents. Along with tools for personal development and reinforcing research and clinical excellence, the program also provides residents with comprehensive training in a wide array of fields, all designed to promote and develop leadership and medical excellence to cope with the ups and downs in the modern medical world and the changes in the nature and mix of the community the medical center serves.

The program is a joint effort with Edmond de Rothschild Foundation, as part of its efforts to promote values of excellence and leadership in Israeli society, and with the support of Friends of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center. The program was established based on the belief that development of human capital at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center has an important impact on medicine and quality of care.

In light of the success of the first class, it was decided to recruit another class. As noted above, this week Hillel Yaffe Medical Center issued a call for outstanding residents from all hospitals around Israel to submit applications for the program. Residents from all hospitals may submit applications.

Hila is a five-year program and is managed by the Deputy Director General of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, Dr. Dikla Dahan Shriki. The first class was managed jointly with the Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science Division Director, Prof. Motti Hallak, and the second class will be managed jointly with Director of the IVF Unit of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Division, Prof. Einat Shalom-Paz.

As part of the program, participating residents receive personal and professional enrichment, including learning, workshops, lectures, leading projects, developing a personal and professional vision, creating a professional and leadership focus track and more. Starting in their third year of the program, there are scholarships of NIS 250,000 to be used for training, development and implementation of ventures, research and personal development of each resident.
