Some one hundred dentists and oral and maxillofacial surgery specialists took part in a daylong conference organized by the Dental Institute at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center.

The conference addressed new advances in the field of dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. The team from the Hillel Yaffe Institute presented lectures, including on the problems of dental-implant rejection, and reconstructive and aesthetic dentistry.

Professionals from the medical center presented papers outlining their successful attempts with drug treatments to prevent necrosis of the jaw resulting from dental surgery. Jaw-bone necrosis has been recognized by doctors for several years as a possible side-effect in patients on regular osteoporosis-prevention medication.

At the end of the conference, participants expressed an interest in attending similar conferences held by the Hillel Yaffe Institute in the future. Additionally, given the impressive results of treatments at the Institute that were presented at the conference, the dental surgeons also expressed a desire to be in  closer contact with the Institute, in clinical and other matters.
