Specialists in Excellence

4/12/2013

The festival of Hannukah is associated with both courage and light. At Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, they felt there was no more suitable time to celebrate the annual Excellence Awards, in which prizes of recognition are awarded to employees and volunteers whose work spreads light in professional and personal terms, and to do so publicly.

"Specialization is a generic name that covers the work done efficiently, faithfully and comprehensively, demonstrating far-reaching knowledge in a given area in the best possible way," said Prof. Meir Oren, Director of the Medical Center. "We select these people very carefully and with much thought every year, so that we can give expression to excellence, concern, and the efforts of our employees, who constantly endeavor to carry out their work in the best possible way, while displaying personal and professional integrity, sensitivity towards the team and their colleagues, and devotion to the patients and their families."

Dr. Amnon Ben-Moshe, Hillel Yaffe's Administrative Director, said, "It is important to us, the hospital's management, to have the concept of quality reflected in every field, but particularly in human resources, which is the driving force of our organization. The choice each year of who has stood out and is deserving of recognition is not any easy one, but we consider it of the highest importance as a way of thanking those who do their work faithfully, and more than just that, over time."

Among the prizewinners: head of the Medical Sciences Library, the nurse in the Emergency Medicine Department, a physician in the Pediatrics Department, a nurse from Internal Medicine A, a worker in the microbiology laboratory, coordinator of the IT unit, the computer unit team, and administrative and maintenance staff for computers and technical services who work for the hospital's research foundation. Additional prizes were also awarded to outstanding volunteers in the physiotherapy, maternity and neonatal wards and the Gastroenterology Institute.

The five top prizes, the Prizes of Excellence from the Ministry of Health, were awarded this year to five employees: Associate Prof. Muhammad Mahajana, Director of the Child Development and Neurology Center, Liz Mishali CPA, Deputy Director of the Finance Department, Zion Avisahel, Nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Department, Sarah Badash, Head Nurse of Surgery B, and Dafna Nevo, HYMC Spokesperson. These employees will take part in the Outstanding Employees ceremony that will take place in the coming weeks at the Ministry of Health.

During the ceremony, organized by the Human Resources Department and accompanied by a pleasant presentation of photos of the contestants, good wishes were offered by the heads of the various committees and by a representative of the prizewinners, Zion Avisahel, who noted how much pride all of the winners felt to be there.

The ceremony ended with the Hallelujah Choir of the Medical Center singing a medley of songs of praise, a fitting conclusion to a special occasion.
