This week, Hillel Yaffe Medical Center joined Magen David Adom's Life Guardians project, designed to prepare civilians with medical training to provide first aid in emergencies if they are close to the scene of an event.

"Cooperation with Hillel Yaffe is a given, in light of the many years of outstanding and productive work we have enjoyed with the medical center," said Gil Moskowitz, MDA's Director of General Operations, at a meeting with the management of the medical center, on the day on which the registration desks were set up there.

Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz, Director General of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center, said, "This is an vital, positive and important project, and we're always happy to take part in any effort designed to save lives and help the organizations involved, and this is certainly true for MDA."

The concept behind the Life Guardians project is on-the-scene assistance at the scene of an emergency, for example if someone has a heart attack, collapses at home or anything else. Given that the amount of time it takes to get to the scene of an emergency plays a vital role in saving lives, MDA started Life Guardians. The project takes advantage of the physical location of civilians who have undergone appropriate training and may be close to the scene of an emergency, to help with first aid until the ambulance arrives. Hillel Yaffe Medical Center is, of course, happy to take part in this important project.

The meeting was attended by, among others, the Director of the Sharon District Yossi Rokeach, who also mentioned the outstanding cooperation with Hillel Yaffe Medical Center over time, and the close relationship the two organizations have shared over the years to the benefit of patients.

At the end of the meeting, all of the participants went to the registration desk that had been set up in a central location in the hospital corridor. There, Dr. Dudkiewicz and his deputy, Dr. Ohad Hochman, as well as other members of management added their names to the list of Life Guardians.
