A dedicated area for women suspected of having coronavirus needing gynecological and obstetric care

The area is situated in an area separate from the Emergency Room and inpatient departments, and will treat only women needing gynecological care or delivering babies who may suffer from coronavirus. A dedicated staff from the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department will work under the supervision of Prof. Motti Hallak, Department Director, and Clinical Supervisor, Ms. Orly Basis.

The dedicated area, named “The Diamond Area”, includes a Gynecology and Obstetrics Emergency Room, two delivery rooms, three postpartum recovery rooms, and five designated rooms for women and birthing mothers suspected of having coronavirus.

Should a patient arrive who tests positive, she will be transferred, in accordance with the Ministry of Health regulations, to isolation in the Infectious Diseases Unit A, where patients with confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) are hospitalized. There is a room in the area suitable for postpartum women. A woman who tests positively for coronavirus before giving birth, will give birth in a separate, isolated area.

Prof. Motti Hallak: Women needing gynecological or obstetric care who come to the medical center need to feel safe – whether in regular times, or in emergency times. Our staff is prepared, hoping we will not need these facilities. But if we do – we will know, as usual, how to provide the most professional and dedicated care.
