Designated biological Emergency Room opens – for those suspected of having coronavirus

Hillel Yaffe Medical Center has opened a separate Emergency Room area for patients suspected of having coronavirus, suited for 12 people suspected of being infected with the virus

Arrival at the biological Emergency Room is through a different entrance to that of the regular Emergency Room. The staff who will work in the area is a designated staff from that of the Emergency Room, who will work under the supervision and guidance of Director of the Emergency Medicine Department, Dr. Jalal Ashkar, and Head Nurse Mira Libel.

The designated area was built in the area of the Emergency Room, in the hospital’s basement. The area has been designed specifically within a few days for patients suspected of having coronavirus, with the aid of logistic and managerial teams, and, of course, with clear help from the senior staff of the Emergency Medicine Department.

The area, which can usually hold up to 26 treatment posts, has so far been adapted to contain 12 patients suspected of having coronavirus, so as to maintain distancing in line with the Ministry of Health regulations.

Director of Hillel Yaffe Medical Center Dr. Mickey Dudkiewicz: “Hillel Yaffe Medical Center is continuing with its increased preparations for treating and wiping out coronavirus. We are currently also preparing another designated department to treat patients confirmed as having coronavirus. I am proud of our dedicated staff, from all areas and professions, who are carrying out complex and challenging work in these difficult times.”
