New Building Launching Ceremony

Last Thursday, May 12, 2011, the new hospital building at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center was officially inaugurated. Attending this momentous event was Deputy Minister of Health, Hadera Mayor, senior Ministry of Health officials, donors and businesspeople and, of course, HYMC staff

The new hospital building that opened its doors in September 2010 was officially inaugurated in a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony this past Thursday. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health, the Mayor of Hadera, Hillel Yaffe management and hundreds of employees, Ministry of Health officials, donors and others. HYMC director Prof. Meir Oren said, "The new building is a perfect expression of the compatibility between our medical excellence and the environment in which the medical treatment is provided."

After a ten-year wait that included numerous difficulties and pressures, Hillel Yaffe Medical Center opened up its new, modern hospital building that achieves a level of quality found in five star hotels. The new building allows the hospital to increase inpatient beds from 410 to 495, benefiting patients, visitors and the hospital staff.

Most departments relocated in September 2010. In March 2011, the IVF Unit relocated, and three additional operating rooms were opened, formally completing the relocation. The official festivities were held this past Thursday.

In his speech, Rabbi Litzman congratulated HYMC employees and referred to the current battle being waged by doctors to save public medicine. He also spoke of his desire to help hospitals meet their various needs. Hadera Mayor Avitan also congratulated the medical center, saying that the new hospital building undoubtedly opened a new world for area residents. Prof. Meir Oren noted the ongoing struggle to provide modern medical services in a harsh economic reality, while also thanking donors. Prof. Oren also thanked hospital employees for their patience, determination and excellent work over the years, emphasizing that the new hospital building reflects the compatibility between medical excellence, technological ability, accumulated knowledge and excellent human capital and hospitalization conditions that decisively affect the patient's health. Oren further added that the new hospital building is a key milestone in the medical center's history, but it is clear that the hospital has many additional needs in terms of development of hospitalization infrastructure.

The event closed with Danny Robas's song Something New Begins, which put a particularly large and proud smile on the faces of all present.
